Aquilombando Aldeia
An event that officially became part of Aldeia da Fraternidade’s annual calendar in 2025, Aquilombando is a cultural, social, and political manifestation focused on valuing Afro culture and ancestry. Held at the end of November, the event features music, food, a fair with local Black entrepreneurs, and performances by children and youth.
Strengthening Black identity and anti-racist education are key pillars of the organization, strongly influenced by the territory it occupies and by the internal and external communities it serves.
Together with the staff who organize the event, I was responsible, as Aldeia’s Communication Coordinator, for creating the event’s visual identity according to the theme, supporting the organization, developing communication strategies and promotional content, and capturing and editing photos and videos on the day of the event.
Year: 2025
Key words: Cultural Communication • Visual Identity • Anti-racist Education • Community Engagement • Event Branding

In 2025, the concept was to celebrate Afro-Gaúcho roots, since the state of Rio Grande do Sul has a Black culture that is often rendered invisible, despite, for example, having one of the largest numbers of followers of Afro-Brazilian religions in the country.
The logo was composed of illustrations of the map of Rio Grande do Sul, a fingerprint representing Afro identity, and joined hands symbolizing affection and ancestry. The color palette combined Aldeia’s visual identity (blue and yellow) with the colors of the state flag (red).

As part of the event’s communication, three videos were produced.
The first, a teaser, combines images of Aldeia with the reading of a poem by Oliveira Silveira, a Black poet from Rio Grande do Sul.
The second features young participants sharing what Aquilombando means to them.
The third documents the event, capturing its atmosphere, people, and key moments.
